Antibiotic of new generation Amoxicillin is a modern medication used for treatment of the most human infectious diseases. Amoxicillin provides a wide action and is considered to be one of the best antibiotics because due to strong pharmacological properties allows quickly and effectively to treat a serious disease for few days.
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic of penicillin group, therefore it is characterized by bactericidal and antibacterial pharmacological action. Amoxicillin is used in treatment of such diseases as:
- Infections of the respiratory tract (quinsy, otitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia)

Amoxicillin is an analog of ampicillin; it has a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity. The principle of its operation is based on stopping the growth of bacteria.
This medication is effective against bacteria that cause infections of: ear, nose, and throat; genitourinary and respiratory tracts; skin structure; ano-genital and urethral infections etc.
Amoxicillin is also used a way to prevent infections before surgery or dental work.
The common forms of Amoxicillin are: capsules, chewable tablets, liquid and pediatric drops. Each of them should be chosen by your pharmacist or prescribed by a doctor. The dose of Amoxicillin in adults is 250 mg every 8 hours, 500 mg every 8 hours, 500 mg every 12 hours or 875 mg every 12 hours, depending on the type and severity of infection.
For the gonorrhea treatment the dose is 3 g given as one.
For children older than 3 months but less than 40 kg the recommended doses are 25 mg/kg/day in some divided doses every 12 hours, 20 mg/kg/day every 8 hours, 40 mg/kg/day every 8 hours or 45 mg/kg/day every 12 hours depending on type of the infection.
For the gonorrhea treatment the dose is 3 g given as one.
